A fatal accident required a total interruption of traffic for almost 2 hours yesterday evening around 7 p.m. at the station. Laigneville (Oise). A person who could not be identified was fatally struck by a traveling train towards Creil and had just arrived at Laigneville station.
The driver, in a state of shock following this fatal accident, could do nothing to avoid it. According to the first elements of the investigation, it is a voluntary act.
350 people remain at the dock for almost 2 hours
The consequences for rail users were immediate during this rush hour. The SNCF teams first issued a first alert message to its users around 7:20 p.m., to warn them that traffic was interrupted between Creil and Amiens in both directions to allow emergency services to intervene.
This fatal accident then forced this train and its 350 passengers to park for 2 hours at this railway stop, which caused major delays on the network.
Traffic resumes around 9 p.m.
“No one fell on the platform accidentally,” said the mayor, Christophe Dietrich, who had not had to report a fatal accident at this station for several years.
Initially estimated at 9:30 p.m., the resumption of traffic was ultimately faster than expected and the train was able to leave “a little before 9 p.m.” according to the mayor.
“No one was taken off the train nor transported on a bus. We had some concerns at one point because a baby was on board. But things were managed rather well by the SNCF,” comments the elected official, who was present on site last night.
