The winter period has started well in . Indeed, snow fell on the department this Tuesday, November 12, notably on Mont Ventoux. This led to several traffic disruptions on the RD974 which was also closed between Mont Serein and the summit of Ventoux, but also the RD164. Conditions have improved on the latter since.

The access road to Mont Ventoux on the south side could soon close

On the other hand, the RD974 will remain closed between Mont Serein and the summit of Ventoux. Access to the latter is therefore now prohibited on the north side. And this for the entire winter period. The south side remains open. “The road will remain accessible this weekend, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent snow-covered landscapes. However, a U-turn will be obligatory at the summit,” indicates the Vaucluse Departmental Council on its Facebook page.

And if you want to take advantage of it, now is the time. Indeed, the South side could soon be inaccessible. “If the weather confirms the return of cold and snow at the start of the week, the road on the south side will be closed from Monday on the Bédoin side in order to ensure everyone's safety,” announced the community.

Winter equipment compulsory since 1is November

Note that winter equipment is mandatory in several municipalities in the department since 1is november. Motorists must therefore equip their vehicle with winter tires or have snow chains or socks, if they are traveling within them. This concerns the municipalities of Aurel, Beaumont-du-Ventoux, Bédoin, Lagarde-d'Apt, Malaucène, Monieux, Saint-Christol, Saint-Trinit and Sault.
