News – Val-de-Travers – Val-de-Travers in the spotlight at the 2024 Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix

The Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) revealed its winners for the year 2024, celebrating the excellence of the art of watchmaking with a ceremony rich in emotion on November 13. The international scene, gathered around the actress Carole Bouquet and the president of the jury Nick Foulkes, notably saluted several emblematic brands established in the heart of Val-de-Travers. A recognition which strengthens the region's position as an exceptional center in the watchmaking field.

Local brands awarded prizes for their audacity and know-how

Among the winners of this edition, Chopard, Piaget, Bovet 1822 et Voutilainen were able to shine in their respective categories, demonstrating the innovation and expertise that characterize Val-de-Travers.

  • Chopard distinguished itself in two categories: the Eco-innovation Prize with the watch LUC Fleurier Qualityan exemplary creation for its ecological commitment, and the Jewelry Watch Price for its sumptuous Laguna High Jewelry secret watch. With these awards, the brand continues to prove that watchmaking can combine aesthetics and durability, a vision that appeals to enthusiasts and experts alike.
  • Piaget won the Iconic Watch Prize For the Piaget Polo 79thus reaffirming its status as a timeless reference. This distinction testifies to the technical mastery and inimitable design that have made Piaget a symbol of watchmaking elegance.
  • Bovet 1822 was awarded the Mechanical Exception Prize with its model Recital 28 Prowess 1a true technical and artistic feat that reinvents the codes of traditional watchmaking. The Bovet factory, based in Val-de-Travers, stands out once again for its ability to push the limits of mechanics.
  • Voutilainenfinally, was honored with the Men's Watch Price For the KV20i Inverteda watch that is both technical and unique and embodies the essence of watchmaking craftsmanship. Each Voutilainen model demonstrates the brand's commitment to artisanal excellence and refinement.

A prestigious list that highlights Val-de-Travers

This edition of the GPHG, by rewarding brands established in Val-de-Travers, confirms the importance of the region in the world watchmaking panorama. For decades, Val-de-Travers has attracted companies that innovate in terms of precision, design and durability. These awards not only represent pride for the region, but also international recognition of local watchmaking expertise.

The GPHG 2024 thus allowed us to pay tribute to the passionate artisans, engineers and creators who give life to exceptional watches. For those who wish to experience the award-winning timepieces up close, an exhibition is open at the Rath Museum in Geneva until November 17, followed by a presentation in Romania, at the University Library in Bucharest, from November 21 to 23.
