Since its creation in 2007 by the association The Soledrathe event brings together families, associations and cooking enthusiasts around a simple and warm dish: the soup. The idea of this celebration was born in the mind of the former president of the association, Eric Descotteinspired by a similar party organized in Florac, in Lozère. In 2005, he wanted to import this concept to Lanta, in order to create a moment of sharing around a friendly dish, to be enjoyed outdoors. The first edition, in 2007, was a test, but the enthusiasm of the participants quickly increased attendance at the event, particularly after a notable appearance on TF1 in 2010.

Today, the Soup Festival – including 17e edition will be held on Saturday November 16 – is a tradition in Lanta. It brings together up to 1,000 visitors in a festive and family atmosphere. “Our audience is very diverse, from babies in strollers to the elderly,” explains Christelle Gelythe current president of Soledra. The event also attracts people from all over . “My sisters even come from to offer soup”she emphasizes.

At 6 p.m., the jury made up of a chef and event regulars will first judge the presentation of the participants' stands. Then time for the tasting around 7 p.m. Each recipe will be judged according to several criteria: taste, originality, texture…

The public will also have their say. By purchasing a bowl at the price of €7each participant will have the right to taste all the soups and of vote for your favorite drink.

Local associations, such asparents association of Saint-Pierre-de-Lages and theLeisure reception associated with the Lanta schoolwill liven up the evening by preparing their soups on site, adding a fun touch for the children present. La Soledra, organizer of the event, will offer three homemade soups, including a “mystery” soup inspired by the theme of the year, the Olympic Gameswhich will be revealed the same evening.
