Monday November 11, the many hikers present participated in the great solidarity momentum of the Montilly Sports Nature Festival at the Montilly-sur-Noireau fairground (Orne).

The festival had started the day before, with a first 10 km hike at 4 p.m. and the NRJ nocturne 10 km trail at 7 p.m., which was timed for the first time.

The next morning, from 8:35 a.m., and in the presence of 150 volunteers necessary for the smooth running of the event, the first and longest mountain bike ride, sponsored by L'Orne Combattanteset off for a distance of 45 km.

The cyclist professional Guillaume Martin was present this Monday morning to swap his road bike for a mountain bike among the 599 other mountain bikers present.

Hikes for everyone

THE departures different mountain bike, hiking, cani-hiking, Nordic walking or untimed trail hikes followed one another.

The last group to start this morning was that of the runners registered for the Claude Roussin nature trail. Without classificationthe participants were present for the pleasure of running, over one or two laps of 6 km.

Valérie Fournier from Alençon Running-club, champion of 5 km, in masters 5 (60-65 years) since October 22, was present at the start of this event.

In this Olympic year, the traditional film music Pirate of the Caribbean which usually accompanies sending athleteshad been exceptionally replaced by that of the 2024 Olympic Games.

The presence of the sponsor of this 2024 edition, the Paralympic parabadminton championCharles Noakes, also participated in this Olympic atmosphere.

Dressed in his French team outfit and came with his gold medalhe offered two signing sessions during the day.

The professional athlete insisted on congratulate the younger generation present this morning.

It’s great to bring them in, they are the future of the sport. It is extremely important for their health to play sports. It makes me proud to see them here and I encourage them to continue their activity whatever it may be.

For Hervé Quettier, conductor of the festival, “this beautiful 2024 edition is a record year with 2,624 participants in total. The large participation on the hikes is really pleasing! This is encouraging for volunteers and this rightly rewards the associations partners: Rêve de Bouchons 61, Solidarité bocage and DOTis. The profits collected will help support their work and help people who have more difficult lives than us. »
