Diro agent hit on the RN165 in Brec'h: the author sentenced to one year in prison

On November 10, 2024, a fatal accident occurred on the RN165, near the Brec'h exit (56). Following this accident and in order to carry out observations, the gendarmerie asked the Interdepartmental Directorate of Western Roads (Diro) to close this same road and force users to exit towards Brec'h. Thus, three signposted vans and numerous traffic signs are deployed, Monday November 11, over 7 km before the exit. However, five minutes later and while three agents were completing the installation, a vehicle crossed the restrictions and headed towards them. The first officer approaches the almost stationary vehicle to signal it to turn around.

Hanging on the windshield wipers

The agent is facing the car when it restarts and throws him onto the hood. For nearly 30 meters, he clings to the windshield wipers, then to the hood, while the driver jerks the wheel to try to make him fall. “I preferred to tip to the side, I felt that he was not going to slow down,” said the officer who was hit. The accused will be arrested a few meters further by the gendarmerie already on site.

At the hearing, the Plouhinecois apologized numerous times and explained his actions: “I saw that there was a roadblock, but I had two months in prison to serve for unpaid day fines, I I panicked.” However, he denies having deliberately hit the agent and tried to make him fall: “He threw himself on my hood and I was stationary”. With five mentions in his criminal record, the victims' lawyer speaks of “a multi-card profile of delinquency which takes the victims for imbeciles”.

The court sentences Manuel Ricordel to one year in prison and six months suspended. His license is withdrawn, he also has an obligation of care. He will owe the victims the sum of €1,300 in damages and legal fees.
