As a reminder, La Poste announced at the end of May that it would close nearly 170 subsidiaries in Switzerland by 2028. At the end of October, we learned that more than a third of these closures concerned French-speaking Switzerland. On this side of the Sarine, 65 postal offices are threatened: 5 in Geneva, 19 in the canton of Vaud, 8 in Fribourg, 8 in Jura, 11 in Neuchâtel and 14 in Valais. La Poste justified this reorganization by “the drastic reduction in counter operations”: since 2010, payments there have fallen by 68%. And since 2019, traditional operations have fallen by 49% while the number of letters processed has reduced by 39%.
