Created two years ago, the film festival organized by the film club of the Ernest Renan Cultural Center in Tréguier (Côtes-d'Armor), and entitled “Au film de l'eau”, is dedicated each year to a theme around water. This year it will take place November 15, 16 and 17, 2024 at the Arche theater.

Rivers on display

After the ports, these are the rivers which will be explored through a programming for adults and younger.

With three films a day and six guests, a program adapted to all audiences, the 2024 festival promises to be a good vintage, concocted by Denis Mondot and Brigitte Pouillard, knowledgeable film buffs.

Friday will be aimed at schools with the screening of the film from 9:30 a.m. The little gang by Pierre Salvadori (2022), with guest Michel Barthélémy, who was production designer on the film. He will not fail to explain to young people all the manufacturing secrets….

The high schools of Pommerit-Jaudy, Tréguier, the elementary schools and the Renan college will obviously be part of the celebration, around this film which tells the story of five young college studentsliving in Corsica who want, for ecological reasons, to blow up the local factory.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 15

  • The little gang (2022, , adventure, comedy, 1h48) at 9:15 a.m.: Film by Pierre Salvadori with Paul Belhoste, Mathys Clodion-Gines, Aymé Medeville… which tells the story of five young college students, living in Corsica, who want, for ecological reasons, blow up the local factory.
  • The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1993, USA, comedy adventure; 1h47) at 1:30 p.m.: Film by Stephen Sommers with Frances Conroy, Elijah Wood… To escape an increasingly violent father, Huckleberry Finn decides to disappear. Pretending to be dead, the young boy crosses paths with old Jim, an escaped slave. Together, the fugitives will raft down the Mississippi…
  • The Serpent's Embrace (2015, Argentina/Colombia/Venezuela, adventure-drama, 2h04, VO), at 8 p.m.: film by Ciro Guerra with Nilbio Torres, Antonio Bolivar, Brionne Davis, Jan Bijvoet… Karamakate, a powerful Amazonian shaman, last survivor of his people, live isolated in the depths of the jungle. Decades of solitude have made him a chullachaqui, a human devoid of memories and emotions. His life is turned upside down by the arrival of Evans, an American ethnobotanist…

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 16

  • Beasts of the Wild South (2012, USA, Drama/Fantasy, 1h33, VO) at 10 h : film by Benh Zeitlin with Quvenzhané Wallis, Dwight Henry, Levy Easterly, Caméra d'or ( Film Festival). In the bayou of Louisiana lies an isolated village called “Le Bassin”. This is where Hushpuppy, a little girl of 6 years old, lives with her father, Wink, a man with a tough character and fragile health. At school, children learn how to survive in a hostile world. Knowledge that she will be able to put into practice when a violent storm approaches. The water rises, the wind devastates the houses and the inhabitants are scattered…
  • The host (2006, South Korea, action/horror/science fiction, 2h, original version) at 3 p.m: film by Bong Joon-Ho with Song Kang-Ho. In Seoul, while Park Gang-du, a seller with an immature character, works by the river in a small snack bar where he lives with his family, triggers incredible hysteria, panic: a monstrous creature, immense and unknown, emerging from the The bottom of the river only tramples and attacks the poor innocents, destroying everything in its path.
  • Dark waters ( 2019, USA, Biopic/Thriller, 2h06, VO) at 20 h : film by Todd Haynes with Mark Ruffalo, Anne Hathaway, Tim Robbins… Robert Bilott is a lawyer specializing in the defense of the chemical industries. Questioned by a farmer, his grandmother's neighbor, he will discover that the idyllic countryside of his childhood is poisoned by a factory of a powerful chemical group.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 17

  • Spirited Away (2001, Japan, Animation, 2h05, VF) at 10 h: film by Hayao Miyazaki, Oscar for best animated film. During a car trip, the family of 10-year-old Chihiro stops at a theme park that seems abandoned. His parents discover delicious dishes in a restaurant and start eating. They then find themselves transformed into pigs. Panicked, Chihiro runs away and meets the enigmatic Haku…
  • Like a plane(2015, France, comedy, 1h45) at 14 h 30: Film by Bruno Podalydès with Bruno Podalydès, Sandrine Kiberlain, Agnès Jaoui, Denis Podalydès… Michel, in his fifties, is a computer graphic designer. Passionate about Aéropostale, he dreams of himself as Jean Mermoz when he takes his scooter. One day, Michel stops in front of photos of kayaks: they look like the fuselage of an airplane. It's love at first sight. Supported by his wife, he undertakes to cross a river alone by kayak.
  • Apocalypse now(1979, USA, Drama/War, 2h33, VO) at 18 h : film by Francis Ford Coppola with Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall, Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. During the Vietnam War, Captain Willard is forced to lead a perilous mission in Cambodia. Accompanied by four soldiers, he must put an end to the command of Colonel Kurtz, who uses methods considered too barbaric.

Atelier

The festival poster was designed by Lison Beaucé, a DNmade graphic design student from Savina, the other posters not selected will be exhibited at the Arche.

A collaboration with Inseac (higher national institute of artistic and cultural education) of Guingamp will make it possible to host a mash-up table workshop (montage made from various images and sounds) on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at CCER.
