Rehabilitation of the Mas Careiron specialized hospital center in Uzès, extension of the Gard Cancer Institute and the Vidourle nursing home in Sauve…
Since the launch of Ségur de la Santé in 2021, more than 1.6 billion euros have been dedicated to investment aid for health and medico-social establishments in Occitanie. This Ségur de la santé opportunity is historic due to the unprecedented scale of investment aid allocated to transform the offer in the territories by combining national funds and the ARS Regional Intervention Fund.
Among the projects financed in the 13 departments, four major ones concern Gard. First, the Mas Careiron specialized hospital center in Uzès with the rehabilitation of the IACA building dedicated to cognitive-behavioral support for anxiety and the creation of a building to treat anxiety-depressive disorders. Work began in October 2023 and delivery is scheduled for January 2025.
Construction and extension at Nîmes University Hospital
The Carémeau University Hospital in Nîmes also benefits from this aid from Ségur. Since last June, the construction of a new 4,000 m2 building primarily focused on endoscopy has begun in order to consolidate endoscopy activities and simplify outpatient procedures. This building is envisaged as an extension of the current building dedicated to ambulatory surgery (CCACS) and in functional link with Carémeau Sud. It should be completed by November 2026.
Still within the Nîmes hospital, the extension of the Gard Cancer Institute, delivered in 2015, is also underway. The objective is to increase capacity, bring together the specialties of different outpatient activities as well as improve access to technical platforms and supportive care. This extension reinforces this center of excellence in the region through the development of a wide range of activities involved in the treatment of cancer such as radiotherapy, oral therapies, interventional imaging, etc. The expansion is expected for January 2029.
And then, the last project approved is the rehabilitation and extension of the Vidourle nursing home in Sauve including the creation of a center of activities and adapted care. The goal is to build 15 additional rooms, reaching a capacity of 66 beds in single rooms. The aim is also to create a secure unit with 12 to 14 beds positioned on the ground floor. Work will begin in March 2025.
