Val-d’Oise. The descendant of the oldest Sannoisian family has died

George Gilletan emblematic figure of the town of (Val-d'Oise) has passed away.

“Died at the age of 88, on October 22 in Sannois, he was the descendant of the oldest Sannois family of which traces can be found as early as 1370, one of his ancestors was the first mayor of Sannois from 1792 to 1799” , recalls the municipality.

Gardener in the City of Sannois from 1953 to 1960, in 1960 he created his landscaping company “which experienced great expansion”, insists the municipality, which underlines his attachment to transmission.

“He trained many apprentices. In 1977, he was a zookeeper and during the 1980s, responsible for fox regulation. His investment earned him the title of Knight of the National Order of Agricultural Merit in 1982 and then Officer in 1994.

Involved in community life, Georges Gillet created the association The Companions of asparagus and the vine in 1995. He hosted the Fête à l'Ancienne.

Master of ceremonies during commemorative events, he was also president of Souvenir Français and the National Union of Combatants (UNC).

The funeral of Georges Gillet, father of two children, grandfather and great-grandfather, took place on October 31 in the Sannois church.
