During a press conference, Claude Baril, former owner of the IGA Extra supermarket in Shawinigan, brought together a few dozen people supporting the TES project. The businessman said he considered this project essential for the economic vitality of Shawinigan, but also of the MRC des Chenaux and Mékinac.
“The City of Shawinigan has already been an industrial flagship,” he recalled, referring to the closures of several large companies which contributed to the gloomy economic situation in the city at the turn of the 2000s.
“This pride (past), we are on the verge of bringing it back, but we must mobilize.”

The mayor of Shawinigan, Michel Angers, reiterated his support for the TES Canada project. The president and CEO of the Center of Excellence in Energy Efficiency (C3E), Donald Angers, also praised the merits of the project.
