New logo, new routes and new pricing! However, the future of public transport in Lyon still remains surrounded by some uncertainties.
Bruno Bernard, president of Sytral, announced this Wednesday to bring together under the TCL banner the current TCL, but also the Libellule bus network of Villefranche-sur-Saône and the Cars du Rhône. It will then be possible to travel with the same transport ticket.
However, essential details, particularly those relating to tariff changes, have not yet been clearly indicated. This wait is explained by the holding of an important Board of Directors, scheduled for November 21, during which the question of tariffs will be definitively resolved.
For the occasion, the elected environmentalist changed the TCL logo. Exit the red and the slanted writing, make way for black and an arrow within it. The total cost of this brand overhaul is estimated at 3 million euros.
The future unified network will serve 262 municipalities within a few months, will have 5,000 agents, 1,500 buses and coaches, 550 school services, 130 trams and 108 metros.
Note that solidarity pricing, which today allows people with low incomes to benefit from free admission, and tomorrow to children under 10 years old, will be extended to the entire network from September 2025.
As explained, one of the major challenges of this overhaul is the creation of unified ticketing, allowing the use of the same transport ticket for all services on the Sytral network. Price side: “The Board of Directors on November 21 will definitively decide on the new pricing”, confirmed Bruno Bernard. The ambition is to offer a fair price scale, adapted to journeys and distances, with a division into five zones.
If Ile-de-France has returned to this zoning model criticized for these inequalities, for Bruno Bernard, it responds to a regional logic which adapts much better here than for Ile-de-France residents. Thus, for subscriptions, there will be four possible scenarios. Knowing that zone 1 is the main zone, prices will vary depending on what other zones the user wishes to include.
After the announcement of the project supposed to dress Place Bellecour from next summer, the elected environmentalists decided to continue this week under the sign of a new aesthetic for the monuments of daily life in Lyon.
