The creativity and motivation of young people rewarded by the Caf du Gard with the innovation prizes

The awards ceremony Youth projects by the family allowance fund (Caf) was held this Wednesday, November 13 in the premises of this administration in Nîmes in the presence of the director Matthieu Perrot, the chairman of the board of directors Didier Paquette as well as the vice-presidents. Through the social action approach supported by the department, the agricultural social mutuality (MSA) and the youth, engagement and sports service (SDJES) of national education, the rewards concern individual or collective projects initiated by young Gardois aged 11 to 26, who demonstrate originality, involvement in civic life and acquisition of skills.

Diversified and ambitious projects

Around sixty projects were selected during the call for projects launched at the beginning of 2023. Four were selected by the jury for the prize. The Citizenship prize, worth 2,000 euros, was awarded to the association Action Solidarité Entraide Lasalienne (ASEL), created in September 2019 at La Salle college in Nîmes. “The objective of the project is to create a solidarity trip self-financed by our actions“, describes one of the three young people present. By actions, we mean making and selling jams, washing cars, organizing garage sales, etc. Supervised by adults, the excursion to Reims allowed them to visit associations or even to carry out activities in a nursing home and of course to visit.

The third Innovation prize, amounting to 1000 euros, went to the project Oil show, of Radio Sommières which brought the moped back to the forefront because the creators, Miles Beau and Clément Veyrat, had noticed that this mode of travel “brought smiles to faces“. A special day was therefore organized in October 2023 with a competition, concerts, mob cross… An association has since been created with all the volunteers to perpetuate this event.

The project Cyborgbulls won the second Innovation prize (2,000 euros) and stood out for its scientific character since it involves competing in the First Robotics Competition, an international robotics competition reserved for high schools and with the obligation to create their own robot. The team is made up of students from the Jacques Prévert high schools in Saint-Christol-les-Alès and Jean-Baptiste Dumas high schools in Alès.

Finally the last project My fault won the first Innovation prize (€3,000). The young people of Réso Ados, carried by the sintercommunal union for social development of the cantons of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon and Roquemaure (SIDSCAVAR) wished “that the harassment stops“. What could be better than a short film to evoke school bullying. The film, directed by Hamid El-Atachi and in which the young people participated, was screened during the event, and did not lack in popularity. discreetly bring a tear down the face It is intended to be distributed within colleges.
