AFROBASKET 2025 QUALIFIERS | SENEGAL STARTS ON NOVEMBER 22 AGAINST RWANDA AT DAKAR ARENA

Senegal is preparing to begin the second window of the Afrobasket 2025 qualifiers by welcoming Rwanda for its first match. This long-awaited meeting will take place on November 22, 2024 at 6 p.m. GMT, in the impressive “Dakar Arena” in Diamniadio. For this phase, Dakar will serve as the setting for groups A and B, bringing together some of the most competitive teams in Africa.

Senegal is in Group B, alongside Cameroon, Gabon and Rwanda, while Group A includes South Sudan, DR Congo, Mali and Libya. Led by coach Ngagne DeSagana Diop, the Senegalese Lions are preparing to cross swords with Rwanda, a team led by Senegalese coach Cheikh Sarr. This duel promises a great confrontation between two teams and two national coaches with in-depth knowledge of African basketball.

After this first meeting against Rwanda, the Senegalese team will face Gabon on November 23, then close this second window against Cameroon on November 24. Each match will be crucial for the Senegalese, who are aiming for flawless qualification for Afrobasket 2025.

Designated to host Afrobasket 2025, Angola is an iconic venue for this competition, being the most successful nation in Afrobasket history, with eleven trophies to its credit. The third qualifying window, scheduled for February 2025, will constitute the final step for African teams to secure their tickets for this major continental meeting.
