Four buses from Morbihan and Maine-et-Loire on their way to the “Michelin demonstration” in Clermont-Ferrand this Wednesday morning

According to information from our colleagues at Franceinfo, three buses are traveling with employees from the Cholet factory (Maine-et-Loire) and one with those coming from Vannes (Morbihan). In all, up to 240 Michelin employees are making the trip to Clermont-Ferrand, where the group's headquarters are located, to say no to the closure of their factory. A demonstration is scheduled for the beginning of the afternoon.

In detail, the employees first meet at noon for a barbecue in the presence of politicians as well. Two deputies from La France insoumise in particular must make the trip: the president of the group in the Assembly, Mathilde Panot, and the deputy for Puy-de-Dôme Marianne Maximi. The employees will then converge on the large square in front of the giant headquarters of the tire manufacturer.

CGT representatives hope to push back management, so that Michelin keeps all its factories in France. At the start of last week, Michelin management announced the closure of the Cholet and Vannes sites before 2026, threatening more than 1,250 jobs.
