On the occasion of Pink October, the Saint-Jean d'Aubusson nursing home, in Creuse, organized a balloon release on October 21. 32 balloons accompanied by a small card with the address of the establishment were sent into the sky by residents, hoping to receive a response. This is what happened, says France Bleu Creuse.
One of the balloons was found on November 5. It was discovered “in the town of Neumünster in the middle of the state of Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany,” the nursing home wrote in a Facebook publication. “We found this balloon in our cattle pasture. Yours sincerely,” the person who responded said in French in the letter.

In total, the balloon, inflated with helium, traveled 1,400 km. “At this time, it is the only return, but such a distance will be difficult to achieve,” indicates the nursing home. The objective was to “exchange with strangers” and “raise awareness about breast cancer and screening,” the management of the nursing home told HuffPost.
The balloon was sent by Jeanne, a 95-year-old resident, described as a “very elegant, very polite and affable” woman by the staff who look after her. The nursing home intends to send a postcard from the town to its German correspondent.
