Les Sables-d’Olonne Vendée. The free “Tramouette” shuttles will be launched permanently from July 5, 2025
These are original shuttles for getting around the City Center.
They will leave the town hall and go to Place de Strasbourg, then return in a loop, passing through the Fishing Port or the Arago market.
The desire is to continue with the logic of a more pedestrianized Embankment and peaceful areas, and to reduce traffic jams and road congestion.
The journeys will be free, and the shuttles will operate all year round, 7 days a week.
The times?
– from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
* every 15 minutes from Easter to All Saints' Day
* every 30 minutes in low season.
Equipment
A call for tenders has been submitted.
The wish of the Agglo des Sables-d'Olonne (transport prerogatives) is to be able to use a vehicle that stands out from the usual urban transport shuttles.
By having, for example, a reduced size, adapted to circulation in the city center.
And modular shuttles, from 1 to 3 modules, which makes it possible to manage space, electricity consumption (by batteries), and requests.
Tests have just been carried out with the “Cristal” modules from the Lohr company, modules which are all identical (all have a driving station), are relatively narrow, and are modular; depending on the request, it is possible to use one module or 2 or 3, attached to each other.
So either in “Solo” mode, or in “Convoy” mode of 2 or 3.
The Lohr company (Duppigheim) supplies several cities in the East but also a city in Corsica and also the city of Avignon.
But it is not the only one, other companies should participate in the call for tenders.
Budget
The forecast cost is €1.2 million
And the operating cost of €350,000/year.
