Libyan crisis: Morocco supports the political process | APAnews

Morocco has again warned that foreign interference in Libya as well as in all global issues has a negative impact on the resolution of the crisis, deepening internal divisions. Hence his constant support for the ongoing process.

Morocco today reiterated its unwavering support for the political process aimed at resolving the protracted crisis in Libya, affirming its commitment to a lasting and inclusive solution. During a meeting of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), Morocco’s ambassador to the pan-African organization, Mohamed Arrouchi, expressed the Kingdom’s position in favor of a political outcome based on the dialogue between Libyan actors.

Ambassador Arrouchi stressed that Morocco remains firmly convinced that only an internal and inclusive dialogue between Libyans will allow the country to emerge from the current political impasse. “ The crisis that Libya has been going through for years can only be resolved through concerted and legitimate actions, both at the presidential and legislative levels. “, he said, emphasizing the need to put in place credible institutions to guarantee lasting peace.

In his intervention, the Moroccan diplomat also recalled the leading role played by Morocco in promoting a political solution in Libya. Arrouchi highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to support Libyan state institutions, particularly in the areas of security, the fight against terrorism and organized crime. This approach aims to promote a climate of stability and security, essential to the reconstruction of the country.

As part of its diplomatic efforts, Morocco has hosted numerous meetings bringing together Libyan officials from all walks of life, with the aim of facilitating inclusive dialogue. These meetings, held in Morocco, brought together members of the House of Representatives based in eastern Libya and the High Council of State located in Tripoli. These discussions made it possible to lay the foundations for a consensus around the mechanisms to be implemented to end the conflict.

Ambassador Arrouchi clarified that Morocco acts with complete transparency and respect towards all Libyan parties, thus strengthening its credibility and its position as a trusted mediator. By welcoming Libyan officials, the Kingdom demonstrates its desire to bring points of view closer together and contribute to the stability of the region.

The Moroccan diplomat also denounced foreign interference and international conflicting agendas which hamper peace efforts in Libya. “ Morocco is fully aware of the negative impacts of external interventions on the resolution of the Libyan crisis. This international interference accentuates divisions and compromises any peaceful political process », declared Mr. Arrouchi, quoted by MAP.

Libyan officials have, for their part, repeatedly expressed their satisfaction with Morocco’s efforts and its support for the peace process carried out under the aegis of the United Nations. The Kingdom thus remains a key player in supporting a political settlement and in the consolidation of Libyan sovereignty.
