As part of the fight against violence against women – whose official day is November 25 – the Poligny gender equality consultative committee is organizing a special day this Saturday, November 16, at the town hall.
As a reminder, the day against violence against women was established in 1999 by the United Nations. The date was chosen in memory of the three Mirabal sisters, Dominican activists assassinated on November 25, 1960after having suffered violence from those around them.
Stand d’informations
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., information stands will be available to the public, in the presence of numerous partners: Femmes Debout, the Information Center on the Rights of Women and Families (CIDFF), the Maison de la Protection des Familles, the police and the Municipal Social Action Center (CCAS) of Polignya lawyer specializing in the fight against violence against women, a family therapist, the Séquanaise with its social living space, the mobile beauty tent as well as a exhibition on victims of femicide.
Workshop program
This year, the committee wanted to “go further” with a proposal for workshops on various themes.
- Continuously: socio-aesthetic workshop with the Mobile Beauty Tent association; self-defense workshop by the Lons-le-Saunier judo club with Elias Lahkal; manufacturing of hygiene products at “lower cost”; workshop return to calm after the violence et breathing to rebalance stress in homeopathy et auto-hypnosis by Natacha Prault Briault; writing workshop by the members of the commission; and a clay workshop to work on self-esteem and self-confidence by Émilie Genot from l'Essential Space.
- A talking circle Le nid de Vickyby Vicky Hanotin Dossot, at 2 p.m.
- Sophrology workshop by Estelle Guillaume, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Well-being collage workshop by Marie Blanc, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Atelier de Do In (self-massage technique from traditional Japanese medicine), hosted by Katia Sax “Well-being massages”, at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
A show and debate
At the beginning of the evening, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the show will be broadcast in the village hall If I were a woman, followed by a debate. This production describes a series of situations which highlight violence against women through the story of several characters as couples, friends and colleagues.
Various themes will therefore be addressed: sexism, domestic violence, sexual harassment at work, cyberbullying et the influence.
Many actions
Since its creation in 2023, the commission has already implemented numerous actions, aimed at both young and old: a show with two versions (one for children, one for adults), a video “When I grow up, I will be”, by the Municipal Children's Council, a concert as part of Women's Rights Day, a girls-boys equality day for Poligny schools, a drawing competition to create a poster of emergency numbers and a general public conference on equality between girls and boys.
