The company China Overseas Engineering Corporation (COVEC) has just won the 10th batch of civil engineering works for the construction of engineering structures and the restoration of communications (TOARC) on the conventional line in operation in Casablanca.
The high-speed line (LGV) linking Kenitra to Marrakech mobilizes several national and international companies for different segments and types of work. The civil engineering works were divided into several lots, each assigned to a specialized actor in order to guarantee maximum expertise and efficiency.
Allocation of other lots
The first batch was entrusted to China Railway NO.4 Engineering (CREC 4) for an amount of 3.4 billion dirhams. This segment, which covers 62 kilometers between Sidi Ichou and Rabat, represents one of the major portions of the project. The company CREC 4, a specialist in the railway sector, is responsible for carrying out the earthworks, infrastructure and development for this crucial section.
The second lot, worth 4.5 billion dirhams, was awarded to Shandong Hi-Speed Engineering-Construction. This company will take charge of the Rabat Agdal – Zénata segment, 64 kilometers long, with a focus on the installation of modern structures to optimize the speed and safety of the route.
The GTR company, a subsidiary of the French group Colas, won the third lot, i.e. 36 kilometers for the Casablanca – Berrechid bypass. This segment is strategic for improving traffic flow around Casablanca.
The fourth lot which covers a 51 kilometer section between Berrechid and Settat benefits from local expertise. With a budget of 2.83 billion dirhams, it was awarded to the Moroccan company TGCC.
The fifth lot was won by China Railway 20th Bureau Group. Valued at 1.529 billion dirhams, this segment extends the line by 36 kilometers between Settat and Benguerir. The work will notably include line improvements and structural reinforcements to meet the needs of high-speed infrastructure.
Jet Contractors, a Moroccan player in construction and public works, won the sixth lot for a cost of 2.1 billion dirhams. This 60-kilometer segment, which will connect Benguerir to the Palmeraie of Marrakech, will allow a fluid transition to the gates of the ocher city.
As for the seventh lot, it was awarded to the Moroccan group Mojazine. This 62-kilometer segment is valued at 1.97 billion dirhams and includes earthworks, engineering structures, communications and fencing. Located between the outskirts of Marrakech and the city center, this section aims to strengthen access to the city.
Prizes remaining to be awarded
Two other lots still remain awaiting allocation. The eighth lot, which focuses on the construction of viaducts, and the ninth, which consists of building a viaduct crossing Oued Bouregreg, are still open to offers.
