a relative of François Hollande slips up about Marine Tondelier

A close friend of former President François Hollande, speaking anonymously, released a controversial sentence this Monday concerning the national secretary of the Greens, Marine Tondelier. “She has a green jacket but her underwear is red,” said the latter, causing an outcry on the left.

Comments which are far from unanimous within the New Popular Front (NFP). In an article in the newspaper Libération devoted this Monday to the first secretary of the Socialist Party (PS) Olivier Faure, a close friend of François Hollande, speaking anonymously, made clumsy remarks against an EELV executive . “[Marine] Tondelier does the job for LFI: she has a green jacket, but her underwear is red,” assured the latter on condition of anonymity.

A remark deemed sexist, inappropriate and unacceptable for the national secretary of Europe Ecology the Greens (EELV), who is far from having taken this political attack as a joke, like the entire left.

“I didn't know that the internal debates at the NFP would one day revolve around the supposed color of my underwear,” she says in a long message published on X this Tuesday.

The headliner of the Greens, “the only female leader of a party” as she recalls, does not lose anger and deplores this type of remarks.

“I see some green ones and some unripe ones. But this kind of talk, in 2024, within the NFP, I didn't think it was still possible. […] Beyond the dubious and sexist form (which doesn't really work), the substance of the statement makes no sense,” insisted Marine Tondelier.

“PERFECTLY INAPPROPRIATE STATEMENTS”

The First Secretary of the PS, Olivier Faure, apologized on his X account for “these perfectly inappropriate comments which nothing excuses”. “Not that in the Socialist Party, which is a party that has made feminism its fight,” he continued.

Sandrine Rousseau also criticized the position taken by the close friend of the former President of the Republic on the same social network.

“So where are we at the NFP? Fatigue. Support for Marine Tondelier,” wrote the EELV MP for the 9th constituency of .
