As part of the Small Town of Tomorrow (PVD) system, the town benefited from an opportunity study on the future of the convent, financed by the Banque des Territoires. Likewise, the Gorges-du-Tarn-Causses commune which, with the same support, has just planned to develop the former monastery and the college of Sainte-Énimie.
Three possible scenarios
Ispagnac has a significant need for restoration of the convent, the castle of the lords of yesteryear, just like Meyrueis with the castle of Roquedols. This is why, on Tuesday, November 5, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the community of communes, in Florac, with the many interested parties, organized by Zina Majourel, PVD project manager. Gustav Schneider, consultant from the Terre d'avance design office, by videoconference from Toulouse, presented the different solutions: an analysis with support for each implementation, help in making it a reality and a possible financing program.
For the convent of the commune, three scenarios are possible, integrating the chapel, which attempt, with variable spaces, to meet several objectives. Namely: accommodation in gîtes and small accommodations, catering, associations, early childhood, coworking (workspace and sharing of knowledge and profession).
Call for projects
The Ursuline sisters of the Congregation of the Holy Family sellers were present as well as the mayor of Ispagnac and his deputies, Caroline Entraygues, director of the Council of Architecture, Urban Planning and Environment (CAUE) 48, the services of the State and numerous invited partners.
The Heritage Foundation, represented, underlined the quality of the work carried out on the project, keenly interested in the future of these two listed historic monuments, expecting, as Paul Gely says, that “ project leaders, serious partners, are coming forward. Both projects would bring much to the community and meet its needs.” The part devoted to the castle of Roquedols will be the subject of a future article.
