MP Louis Boyard insulted in TPMP: what does Cyril Hanouna risk, tried before the court?

Tuesday, November 12, host Cyril Hanouna was tried in court for “public insults” towards La Insoumise MP Louis Boyard.

The altercation took place, live, on November 10, 2022, on the set of the show Don't touch my post. The scene lasted several minutes. Cyril Hanouna insulted the MP several times. From Tuesday November 12, he is on trial for his remarks at the Paris court. He risks a fine of up to 12,000 euros and a community service sentence.

What Cyril Hanouna said to Louis Boyard

That evening, the LFI MP was invited to talk about the fate of the migrant boat Ocean Viking. In this context, Louis Boyard mentions Vincent Bolloré, boss of the C8 channel and the Canal group. The former TPMP columnist and deputy for Val-de-, refers to the billionaire's activities in Africa and accuses him of being one of the “five richest people” in France who are “impoverishing Africa” ​​and that he “participated in deforestation”.

Words that make the presenter react, who reminds him: “Do you know that you are in the Canal group here?” Subsequently, he insults the deputy as a “shit”, “buffoon”, “shame” or even an “idiot” and orders him to “shut his mouth”. Louis Boyard ends up leaving the set of the show.

Two complaints, one trial

A few days later, the LFI deputy filed a complaint for “public insult” and also requested the opening by the National Assembly of a commission of inquiry into the Bolloré empire. In response, Cyril Hanouna wrote on X: “The only thing I regret is having insulted him.” He subsequently filed a complaint against the MP for “defamation”.

But it is the star presenter of C8 who will answer for his actions this Tuesday, November 12 before the 17th correctional chamber of Paris, specializing in press affairs.

The sequence gave rise, in February 2023, to a fine from Arcom – the audiovisual policeman – towards the C8 television channel, of nearly 3.5 million euros.
