Wissam Ben Yedder sentenced to two years in prison for sexual assault

The sentence is known for Wissam Ben Yedder. The former captain of AS Monaco (34 years old) was found guilty of sexual assault while drunk, refusing to comply and driving under the influence of alcohol. He receives a sentence of two years suspended prison sentencean obligation of care, as well as a suspension of his driving license for six months.

Sexual assault in a car

The facts attributed to the former Ligue 1 star date back to September 6. Wissam Ben Yedder was drinking in his car in a parking lot near a beach below his home in Cap d'Ail, at the gates of Monaco. There, he made friends with a group of young people, three boys who knew the player and two more suspicious girls.

He alternated between kindness and aggression, said during the trial on October 16 the victim, aged 23, explaining that she ended up accepting, “out of fear“, to get into the player's car, who drove it against his will into the parking lot of his residence. Ben Yedder's apology

On the stand during the trial in October, Wissam Ben Yedder apologized to the victim. He said he didn't remember the evening in question: “It's because of alcohol that I'm here” had recognized the former Monegasque. His lawyers had mentioned a case acting as “an electric shock” for their client, who followed a two-week detoxification treatment at the Nice University Hospital and registered with Alcoholics Anonymous.
