The years go by and look the same for the Restos du Cœur de Foix center, in Ariège. As winter approaches, those responsible for this Ariège branch can only note that there are more and more people in precarious situations.
As the next annual campaign approaches, which will be held on November 15 and 16, Michèle and Françoise hope for a mobilization of Fuxéens. Questioned by our colleagues from La Dépêche, the two women launched an appeal for the commitment of “volunteers for a day”.
More than 1.5 tonnes of products distributed each week
Indeed, the collections on Friday and Saturday will take place in the halls of six food brands in the city, but the twenty people already involved will not be enough. Of course, Michèle and Françoise also count on donations from Ariégeois. In November 2023, the event made it possible to collect 3 tonnes of products.
An impressive result but one which still struggles to cover the needs of Restos du Cœur, which distribute around 1.5 tonnes of food and hygiene products each week. This year, the two women who are fully involved in the Foix center have noticed an increase in retirees, students, but also babies, among those registered.
