It was under radiant sunshine that the celebration of the Armistice of November 11, 1918 was held at the War Memorial, Place de Gaulle, on Monday November 11, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., in the presence of Mrs. Claire Raulin, Prefect of Lot, of Mr. Aurélien Pradié, deputy, of Mr. Jean-Luc Marx, mayor of Cahors and local elected officials. The armed troops were composed of: the Flag Guard of the Lot departmental gendarmerie group (GGD46), dog teams from the National Dog Training Center of the Gramat gendarmerie, the Standard Guard and a section of the airmobile support regiment (9th RSAM). Also in attendance were the Flag Guard of the Lot departmental fire and rescue service, a detachment from the Cahors fire and rescue center (the firefighters had to leave the ceremony quickly because they were recalled for emergencies), frames without troops and recipients. The Harmonie du Grand Cahors provided musical accompaniment for the ceremony. After the troop review, medal presentations took place: Legion of Honor medal at the rank of knight: Lcl Martin; Cross of Military Valor for Master Corporal Gilgen; 2 combatant's crosses: Pharmacist General Pignon and Mr. Clouet; 1 medal for act of courage and dedication, bronze level: Senior Brigadier Mickael Not of the municipal police. The flame of remembrance was then placed at the war memorial. The children read the texts, Ms. Claire Raulin, prefect of Lot, then read the official message from Mr. Jean-Louis Thieriot, Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans. A wreath presentation was carried out by the authorities and the various associations. There were a lot of people there today to attend this ceremony in which young flag bearers participated for the first time.
