“I can't sleep here anymore, it's plop, plop, plop all night,” says Manata, resident of a building on Avenue du Maréchal-Lyautey, in Poissy (Yvelines), pointing to a wall that crumbles. Like others, this tenant of the social landlord The Yvelines Essonne Residences deplores the way in which the renovation of his home is taking place.

This wall is that of his bedroom. On October 16, 2024, she saw workers disembark, “without warning”, from break through the partition separating this room and a newly created extension of the building, thus expanding by around ten square meters are small T3.

Rehabilitation of 308 homes over three years

“The dusting cost me €60,” says this forty-year-old. The concrete is bare, I don't know when the finishing touches will be done. The extension is not yet well insulated either, I have the impression of living in a permanent construction site. »

She is not the only one to complain about the enormous rehabilitation project carried out by the lessor in the Beauregard district. Started in June 2022, it provides for the rehabilitation of 308 housing units until spring 2025.

“Investments reach the sum, rarely reached, of around €80,000 per apartment. »

In this same building, where we had to walk on a shaky plank to access the hall, we encountered a 91 year old womanwho, for a time, lived in the middle of the basins due to infiltration caused by the work. “For three months, it rained at my house,” she laments. There is still some mold on the walls. »

“Respiratory problems”

Other tenants point out this even issuein their homes, but also in common areas. Sarah, a thirty-year-old housed a few halls further in the same bar, has been living “for months” in ambient humidity. And for good reason, the newly created extension in the form of a loggia in his apartment is not yet not isolated to the outside.

“There are leaks and I have mold on the walls. It even oozes into the stairwell. Every time it rains, it gets worse. »

“People in the building are developing respiratory problems,” testifies, worried, the young woman, who also denounces the presence of rats in cellars – which we can attest to – despite several recent rodent control campaigns. Another is planned in the coming days.

“They pound on the door at 8 a.m.”

The thirty-year-old also complains about the lack of tact workers: “They bang on the door at 8 a.m. without you expecting it. Once my son opened it to them, I was still asleep. When I got up, I discovered three men in my house. »

“All interventions in apartments are announced in advance, with notices left in mailboxes. »

Even more restrictive, at the first address visited, residents say they were “forced” to stay at home “several hours” one afternoon, around ten days ago, the workers who worked in the hall told them prohibiting you from going down.

The works and nuisances presented to residents in advance

The lessor recognizes that such a project inevitably causes nuisance. These would have been “presented” to the tenants during the prior consultation, at the end of which a “majority” of them voted in favor of the project.

“Several problems raised by certain residents in recent weeks have been identified and resolved by our teams or those of our service provider,” adds the spokesperson for Résidences Yvelines Essonne.
