Baghdad with Assassin's Creed Mirage: the successful exhibition extended at the Institut du Monde Arabe

When video games allow us to explore the past… The Arab World Institute and Ubisoft are joining forces for an exceptional exhibition: February 28 to January 12, 2025, discover Baghdad: rediscover Madinat al-Salam, with Assassin's Creed Mirage .

Founded by the Abbasids in 762, the city of Madinat al-Salam has long been the capital of the Islamic empire. On the bank of the Tigris River, this large circular city was nicknamed “the city of peace”. City of commerce, of power, city of scientific advances and research, art and culture, Madinat al-Salam rests under the foundations of Bagdaddestroyed by the Mongols in 1258.

This world city has disappeared for many centuries, but its history and its riches continue to fascinate experts and enthusiasts. How to learn more about a ghost town?

Ubisoft and theArab World Institute join forces to take us on a journey to this lost city. Thanks to the settings, the map, the scenes imagined for the game Assassin’s Creed Miragel’THERE IS invites us to explore this city and the civilisation which it sheltered.

From February 28, 2024 to January 12, 2025, the IMA unveils Baghdad: rediscover Madinat al-Salam, with Assassin's Creed Miragea unique exhibition which mixes video games and history, meeting a little-known Baghdad.

Images, sounds and videos from the game Assassin’s Creed Miragebut also interviews with historians and preparatory drawings made for the creation of the game and collectibles from theInstitut make up the route of this exhibition. Artists and scientists contribute to bringing back to life this disappeared city, to educate the general public, while maintaining an aspect playful.

The exhibition addresses five themes: the round city, religions, administration and politics, arts and culture, and science and technology. Each chapter tells a particularity of the city of Madinat al-Salamand what made it grandeur. At the same time, the route highlights the know-how required to build such a city in the 9th century… And in the 21st century, using video game technologies.

THE video games in the service ofartmodern technologies used to revive the past: Ubisoft and theArab World Institute use the best of each world to reveal to us this unique exhibition, which promises to be exciting… What if we were to discover it?
