Storm Ciarán. What financial aid in La Manche?

After the passage of storm Ciarán, and its winds exceeding 170 km/hTHE state services ont financially supported the reconstruction of the territory.

For public facilities

And exceptional support fund has been deployed by the state pour help communities to face these damage not covered by insurance.

In Manche, this fund amounts to €936,226.50. This financial support allowed toaccelerate the repair of critical infrastructurethus guaranteeing and back to normal for the administered by the department.

For the forests

The National Forestry Office (ONF) works with public and private owners on the forests affected by the storm.

After clearing and restoring forest access and plots, the ONF launched a campaign in June harvest phase of the damaged woods. This operating stage marks an important step towards the reconstitution damaged forests.

For farmers

After the Ciarán and Domingos storms, the State implemented exceptional measures to support affected farmers. After the announcements of Prime Minister on January 26, government has released a fund of 20 million euros, including 2 million specifically for the Channel, in order to grant cash flow aid of a lump sum of €10,000 to eligible farms.

This support was intended for farm managers who have suffered significant damageand requiring a rapid stabilization of their cash flow.

THE compensation schemes for agricultural disasters made it possible to cover losses of funds, including destruction of fruit trees and the losses in shellfish farming.

This measure, however, excluded damage to agricultural buildings, but made it possible to compensate for losses affecting production cycles over several years.

In the town of Gouville-sur-Mer, a shellfish farmer suffered damage to its mussels and oysters. Thanks to the mobilization of state services, he was able to receive aid of €42,535.20 within 7 months for agricultural disasters.

For businesses

State services supported the deployment of partial activity to help the businesses affected to overcome the crisis. This device made it possible to prevent economic layoffs in a context of difficulty.

Since the storm, 56 companies in the Channel have requested partial activity, and 42 of them have seen their request validated. These measures concern in particular: 622 employees impacted; 10,442 hours of partial activity recorded; 5 companies specifically affected by direct claims of the storm.

To date, €54,968.01 has been paid by the Services and Payment Agency to eligible businesses, enabling them to preserve their activity and of guarantee remuneration of their employees.
