these passes which will close this Tuesday in Savoie

According to information from the Department of Savoie (Maison technique de Maurienne), relayed by mayors and confirmed this afternoon with the departmental council, due to an episode of snow announced for Tuesday, November 12, most of the high altitude roads will be closed from 10 a.m. These are the Iseran, Mont-Cenis, -de-Fer, and Madeleine passes, in addition to the Glandon pass, the closure of which for the winter had already been announced.

Also affected are departmental roads 126 in Termignon (access to Entre-Deux-Eaux), 100 in Bramans (direction Le Planay), 108 in Aussois (“road of dams”) and 106 in Saint-André (access to L’Orgère ).

According to Météo 's mountain bulletin, the avalanche risk will for the first time in months increase to the 2/5 threshold “on the border ridges because a cold disturbance brings up to 15 cm there by Tuesday evening: Reactive plates form in the north of altitude because these falls, slightly windy, will rest on snow that is often not very cohesive (flat faces, cups). On the rest of the massif, we only observe an insignificant dusting which has no impact on the avalanche risk. »

The site www.savoie-route.fr managed by the Department of Savoie was in any case considering a closure of the Petit Saint-Bernard and Mont-Cenis around the second Monday in November. For the moment, only the Col du Galibier is officially closed for the winter.
