Sad discovery, Sunday November 10, 2024, by boaters who were fishing aboard their boat off the coast of Réville, in the English Channel. A humpback whale has been spotted washing up on the reefs in front of Jonville beach. With a length of 8 meters and a weight of almost 9 tonnes, the dead animal threatened to deviate towards the oyster beds, before being taken care of by customs and towed to Réville beach, thanks to significant resources deployed.

It was not until early Sunday evening that “the cetacean was lifted into a waterproof dump truck and transported to Carentan (Some)before being sent on Tuesday November 12 to a rendering center in Orne”, explained the mayor of Réville, Yves Asseline. There, an autopsy will be carried out to determine the circumstances of the whale's death.
