In Lozère, nursing homes are in financial difficulty. 85% of establishments are in deficit. The 3.80 million euros cumulative deficit, out of total resources of 70 million euros, is mainly explained by the impact of inflation, according to Victor Lallemant, president in Lozère of the association of establishment directors (Fnadepa) in Lozère and director of the Collet-de-Dèze nursing home. “Inflation has significantly affected essential spending items such as food, electricity, gas and energy“.
To deal with this critical situation, the Lozère departmental council plans to vote on a exceptional aid of one million euros on November 26.
This aid, well received by Victor Lallemant, will provide temporary financial relief. “This is valuable help that is not always granted everywhere. However, as a manager, I believe that it is necessary to reform the system to guarantee greater sustainability and autonomy of establishments.”
Victor Lallemant calls for a profound reform of the financing and management system of nursing homes in order to guarantee their viability without continually depending on public aid
