In collaboration with Châteauneuf History and Heritage
Produced and made available to the Drôme municipalities by the Department. This exhibition The Summer of Liberation comes back, 80 ans afterwards, on the historical events which marked the Liberation of the Drôme. Of June 6, 1944date of the Allied landing in Normandy, in September 1, 1944 when the German armies left the department. In less than three months, the Drôme department went from the status of occupied territory to that of a liberated piece of national territory. As everywhere in France, resistance fighters and allies, supported by the civilian population, managed to drive out the occupier and restore republican legality. But very often, this liberation was paid at a high price, that of blood and tears.
