A hiker dies after a fall of more than 250 meters in the Chablais massif

A hiker died this Sunday early in the afternoon during a mountain outing in the Chablais massif, in Haute-Savoie. The man was climbing Mount Billiat from the north face when he fell more than 250 meters.

A hiker aged around sixty years old fell to his death in the Chablais massif, in Haute-Savoie, this Sunday, November 10 around noon.

According to the PGHM who visited the site, the man lost his balance as he approached the summit of Mont Billiat (1,894 meters above sea level) from the north face. “He unscrewed and then he fell more than 250 meters”specify mountain rescue.

The man made this ascent of Mount Billiat alone. The alert was given by witnesses who were at the bottom of the summit and who saw the man fall. They immediately called for help.

When they arrived, they could only note the death of this man in his sixties.
