She talks about images “upsetting”. “We have to see them again and again to realize that at the heart of one of the largest European democracies, we have people who are targeted because they are Jewish, who must defend themselves”comments Aurore Bergé when mentioning the attack on Israeli football supporters in Amsterdam this week. “It seems astonishing”reacts the Ensemble pour la République des Yvelines MP on LCI. “Unfortunately, we have known this climate since October 7”she said in the show “L’Évènement du Dimanche”, deploring “an acceleration and amplification of anti-Semitism” and castigating the position of LFI deputies after the events in the Netherlands.
“There must be an awakening of common consciences, we should all find it absolutely unbearable that a single citizen could be targeted for what he would be or what he perhaps is. in fact, the question is not there”insists Aurore Bergé.

“Slow decay of the left”
The Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau referred the matter to the public prosecutor for “apology of crime” after the publication on X of a message from the LFI deputy of Ille-et-Vilaine Marie Mesmeur. “These people were not lynched because they were Jewish, but because they were racist and supported genocide,” wrote the latter about the attacks in Amsterdam.
“This inspires what for me is the obvious slow decay of the left”reacts Aurore Bergé on LCI. “Once again, we have a rebellious France which today has control over the French left. A rebellious France which fuels anti-Semitism in our country, under the cover of anti-Zionism”. “We have the right to have all the criticism we want on the government of Benyamin Netanyahu, we obviously have the right to denounce the humanitarian situation in Gaza. But we cannot confuse that with the call for destruction of a state”she adds. When reminded that LFI has never called for the destruction of Israel, Aurore Bergé responds that the party “delegitimized the very existence of the State of Israel on several occasions, he denied that the State of Israel has the right to defend itself.”
