The 22e edition concocted by the local peña Toro blanco began Saturday with a conference on bullfighting schools and several times of discussion, notably with the matadors the next day. Their entry onto the track, this Sunday at 11 a.m., was preceded by the traditional combo of coffee – Landes pastis – grilled duck rumps from which a majority of the public (half the arena in total) did not deviate. And then four bulls from the Jalabert family came forward.
Tributes and ears
As a preamble, the president of the Toro blanco peña and deputy president of the Rionnais bullfighting circle Bernard Dehez paid tribute to four local figures who died this year: Bernard Dussarat, Jean-Louis Deyris, Bernard Dabadie and Jean-Marc Brouch.
A few moments later, Julio Norte, the best novillero without picadors of the year 2024 according to the bullfighting critics of the South-West, received his silver cup.
The student of José Ignacio Sanchez, winner of the non-pique of the last Madeleine, obtained an ear (to the appreciation of the public) like Alejandro Moja and El Rafi. The child from Cádiz but from Béziers by adoption, Christian Parejo, cut two. The aficionado's meal, served straight away, concluded this edition of the Fiesta campera, and the 2024 season with it.
