After finishing twice at the foot of the podium in Nommay, Soan Ruesche this time got on the box during the third round of the French cyclo-cross Cup. But the member of UC Nantes Atlantique hoped for even better on his land and that of his training. “I expected a lot from this race, practically at home. I was perhaps the favorite and I didn’t handle this pressure well”he regrets after the race to DirectVelo.
The J2 highlights a strategic error in terms of equipment and he is convinced that it cost him dearly. “I didn't have great pressure on the tires, I was a little too inflated, I didn't grip in the corners, that's what I perhaps lacked for the victory. Physically, I was good but I was losing the front in each turn”he complains. This is how he made mistakes several times during the race. “The first fall really shook me up, the last one took away all hope of winning”.
The reasons for satisfaction are still there, starting of course with excellent physical condition. “I have just finished 8th in the European Championship, aiming for victory almost the entire race, even though I was initially aiming for a Top 15”. This Sunday, for the fourth round, on this same Pierric circuit and with even more rage and desire than today, Soan Ruesche will do everything to raise his arms and make the Nantes jersey shine. “Today I didn't manage to do what I wanted. Even if a podium is not ridiculous either, I hope to make up for it tomorrow”.
