Development Council meeting: towards participatory democracy for the Hérault Méditerranée Agglomeration
This Thursday, November 7, 2024, the Development Council of the Agglo Hérault Méditerranée met for a working session dedicated to territorial projects.
A participatory democracy body, the council brings together 58 members of civil society, from the 20 municipalities of the agglomeration and brings together citizens, economic, social, environmental and associative actors.
Together, they contribute to the reflections and development of local public policies.
Sébastien Frey, president of the Agglo Hérault Méditerranée, opened the session by emphasizing the essential role of this council in the development of the region: “You represent all the living forces of this territory. The agglomeration must rely on your reflections to enrich and, sometimes, question our projects in a constructive way. We will always be more effective at 116 than at 58.” This dialogue, he added, aims to better serve this territory to the 20 municipalities “different but complementary”.
Jean-Luc Chaillou, appointed president of the body, then took the lead in the workshops, inaugurating the first discussions around the crucial theme of mobility. The Development Council will focus in particular on strengthening the multimodal exchange hubs of Agde and Pézenas as well as on the development of an intercommunal cycling network to facilitate travel within the 20 municipalities.
This session marks the start of a strengthened collaboration to shape a territorial project that is both coherent and dynamic.
