Haute-Savoie. A car crashes into the apartment of a high school caretaker

Imagine… You are sleeping peacefully in your room when you hear a terrible noise. You jump out of bed and then you notice that a car is in your living room. She crossed a cedar hedge and two rows of fences.

This is what happened this Saturday, November 9 at 3 a.m., to the caretaker of the Porte des Alpes vocational high school, rue de la Curdy in Rumilly. She was seriously shocked but was not injured.

The driver, in an advanced state of intoxication (his blood alcohol level is not yet known at this time) tried to flee but he was quickly recovered by the Rumilly gendarmerie brigade, which was patrolling nearby. The high school principal, Serge Billard, who lives above the damaged apartment, confirmed that the noise had been shattering.

This Saturday morning, he ensured that the couple could be relocated to an available apartment in the establishment. Once the storm passed, the couple transported their personal belongings from one home to another. The mayor of Rumilly, Christian Dulac, was called to the scene around 4 a.m. He, too, was worried about whether the victims needed to be rehoused or not.

Reached by telephone, he is pleased that the damage is only material. A true miracle considering the violence of the shock.

The driver was taken into custody after being observed by a doctor.
