The Top 100, Australia and… the title for Bonzi?
Ending the year with an ATP title would be more than just a performance for Benjamin Bonzi. Out of the Top 100 in 2024 and wandering around the Challenger circuit, the former French number 1 had an extraordinary autumn to find himself in the final at Metz. Titled to RoanneThen Saint-Brieucbefore reaching the final at Brest (where he obtains match balls), the Frenchman had every chance of shining in the East. Coming from the qualifications, he left no chance to Roberto Bautista Agutalthough titled in Antwerp, nor in Casper Ruudpresent at the Masters, or to his compatriot and friend Quentin Halys. The match was more disjointed against a Alex Michelsen physically weakened on Friday, but it passed. Provisionally 84th, guaranteed to play the Australian Open, Bonzi would not refuse a prestigious trophy to end the season. His last ATP final, at Marseille in 2023, had been won. For his part, Cameron Norrie ensured its return to the Top 50, but after almost two years of drought, would happily take this title.
