Gers Rural Coordination: plant cover, a first step towards common sense

Communiqué from Rural Coordination 32:

On October 22, 2024, by questioning the Departmental Directorate of the Gers Territories, we learned with astonishment that no official request for an exemption from the installation of plant covers had been made in our department. Worse still, our administration only heard one request to get the machine underway.

No sooner said than done, the Rural Coordination of Gers made its request the same day and the Prefect of Gers immediately took up the matter.

By letter dated October 31, 2024, the Prefect of Gers informed us of today's Coderst meeting with the outcome of a decree favorable to exemptions for plant cover in vulnerable areas.

Secondly, he also informed us of the administrative complexity for non-vulnerable zones, particularly due to GAEC 6 and 7.

In fact, we alerted the DRAAF through its Director Olivier Rousset on November 4, 2024 and asked it to come down to the competence of the Prefect of the department and not the Parisian one, the fact of being able to also derogate from plant cover. The answer should arrive shortly.

90% of Gers being in a vulnerable area, the Gers Rural Coordination greatly welcomes the decision of Mr. Prefect of Gers, and impatiently awaits that he can make a decision for the remaining 10% of our department.
