The Donkey Fair expects several hundred fairgrounds and thousands of visitors on Monday, November 11 in Bas-en-Basset. A gastronomic fair will begin on Sunday, November 10 at the gymnasium.
Who says November 11 says Donkey Fair in Bas-en-Basset. The town is flooded every year on this public holiday with fairgrounds and visitors. On the Catholic calendar, it is Saint Martin, protector… of donkeys.
The Bas fair has existed since 1265 exactly and was initially focused exclusively on the sale of donkeys. This animal was popular on farms that could not afford the maintenance of a horse. The mule was used for daily tasks. Today, donkeys remain rare but there is still an animal fair, agricultural equipment, clothing, objects of all kinds.
In total, 800 stands are set up for the day.
A gastronomic fair Sunday and Monday
