Marco Mouly, figure in the giant “carbon tax” scam, has been released from prison

Marco Mouly was sentenced in 2017 to eight years of imprisonment as well as one million euros in damages in the so-called «carbon tax»vast VAT fraud.

Marco Mouly, figure of the giant fraud at the «carbon tax »back in detention since March following the partial revocation of a 2019 conviction, was released on November 2, AFP learned Friday from a judicial source. The 59-year-old man was released from detention last Saturday, “following a decision by the sentencing chamber dated October 29”specified this same source, confirming information from the Parisian.

Mardoché Mouly, known as Marco Mouly, was sentenced in 2019 to three years in prison, accompanied in particular by the obligation to prove employment or training. Failing to respect the conditions of his probationary suspension, his suspended prison sentence was partially revoked. In another case, “Marco the Elegant” appeared on September 25 in , tried for fraud and fraudulent organization of his insolvency.

Fine of more than 283 million euros

He is notably accused of having reduced his copyright in publishing contracts, or even concealing income within the framework of an influencer contract. The prosecution requested 4 years in prison as well as a definitive ban on him from managing a company, specifying that he would have voluntarily avoided obtaining “income that can be seized”preventing the repayment of his legal debts. The Paris criminal court will deliver its judgment on Tuesday.

At the end of June 2017, Marco Mouly was sentenced on appeal to eight years of imprisonment as well as one million euros in damages in the so-called “carbon tax”vast VAT fraud on the market for pollution rights. He was also ordered jointly with the other co-defendants to pay a fine of more than 283 million euros to the French state.
