The councilor resigned from his post in August 2022 for health reasons. He would be 76 years old at the end of November.
Paul Romand, mayor of Niozelles (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) for twenty years, died in recent days at the age of 75. The announcement was made this Thursday, November 7 by the mayor of Forcalquier, David Gehant.
“I will keep the memory of the merchant from whom we went to buy our fruits and vegetables when I was a child, as well as the image of the committed and combative elected official who defended the interests of the commune of Niozelles and the Pays de Forcalquier” writes the chosen one on the social network Facebook.
Mayor of Niozelles for more than 20 years, Paul Romand left office in August 2022 for health reasons. That summer, he had to deal with a major vegetation fire between his commune and that of Villeneuve.
Tired, he threw in the towel to take care of himself after 33 years on the municipal council. Paul Romand will be cremated this Saturday, November 9, at 2:30 p.m., at the Saint-Pierre crematorium, in Marseille. The newspaper La Provence indicates that a tribute will be paid to the former mayor this Wednesday, November 13 at 11 a.m. in front of his home in a place called Le Clos, in the town of Niozelles.
