By deliberation of December 18, 2023, the Department of Cantal has reserved a specific envelope of €100,000 for the 2024 financial year as part of its investment aid policy for Accommodation Establishments for Dependent Elderly People (EHPAD) which encounter difficulties in investing and carrying out work essential to their operation.

As of January 1, 2024, the department has 3,193 beds in EHPAD and non-medical PA structures (authorized and not authorized for social assistance), which represents around fifty establishments and approximately 1,500 employees.

It is proposed to support a single project this year: the replacement of the Fire Safety System (SSI) of the EHPAD la Mainada in Pierrefort (70 places installed including 3 temporary accommodation places. SSIAD: 42 places).

Urgent work to be carried out

Replacement and installation of a Fire Safety System. Following a breakdown in July 2021, the SSI had to be changed.

This project, estimated at €220,000, has already benefited from a subsidy in 2021 of €64,000. However, after the compliance inspection visit, it became necessary to review the entire system to apply new standards.

The overall cost has doubled to €453,667 (excluding construction hazards). “Given the extremely deteriorated financial situation of the EHPAD and the need to complete this work”, it is decided to allocate exceptional investment aid of €100,000.
