As part of Documentary Film Month, the head of the Coray media library, Annaïg Lorand, chose to broadcast “Queens in Finistère”: “After watching several documentaries, I selected this one because it comes out of conventional framework, that it was filmed in Quimper and that it is part of the common cultural project of the media libraries of Haute Cornouaille. »
Drag secrets
Tuesday, November 5, 2024, it was in front of around thirty people, installed in the Pors Clos multipurpose room, that director Vanessa Le Reste came to present her documentary on drag queens. 46 years old, from Concarnoise, she joined the national cinema school in Paris, then worked for TV Breizh and directed four fiction short films. She settled in Douarnenez, a bastion of regional cinema, and set up her production structure, Dahud Prod. In partnership with Quatre et Demi, she made her first documentary film, co-produced by France 3 Bretagne. “It was when I entered a hair salon, run by Anthony, that I found the subject of the film. I was immediately seduced by his personality. » Indeed, Anthony created his female character Britany Hart. It is as a drag queen that he lights up the nights of Quimper. The director wanted to show behind the scenes of the artistic preparation (more than three hours!), share their intimacy and gather some confidences.
The session ended with applause. A cordial exchange with the director, members of the Phénix association (right to difference) and one of the drag artists, Oly Hart, concluded the screening.
Practical
The film can be (re)watched on Wednesday November 27 in Plonévez-du-Faou.
(1) “Info or fake news, the hunt for fake news”: until November 30, an exhibition on this theme can be discovered at the Coray media library.
