Since 1is January 2024, you need a badge to open the drums of household waste containers and access the area's recycling centers. Provided by the community of municipalities, the badge records each household waste deposit (in bags of 50 liters maximum).
As a reminder: the amount of the fee which is invoiced depends in part on the number of deposits which has been allocated to each household according to its composition. Beyond the package, each additional deposit is charged €1.90. Ten months after the badge obligation, it turns out that the number of overruns
is insignificant.
On the other hand, what is more unexpected: Around 300 households did not come forward to collect a badge, either through negligence or refusal of the system.
indicated Bernard Gérault, advisor responsible for waste collection and treatment, in community council, Tuesday, November 5 evening.
What does the regulation provide?
The regulations provide that in the event of unjustified refusal by a user to be provided with an access badge, they will be invoiced on the basis of the highest package for both the individual user (6 person package) only for professional users (rate K).
Considering that this is the first year of implementation of the fee, elected officials have opted for a certain flexibility. Concretely, users have until December 31, 2024 to come forward and collect the badge.
The invoice sent to them in June 2024 will then be regularized in proportion to the composition of the household. This flexibility only applies for 2024. The principle of the highest package for users without a badge is maintained in 2025.
said Bernard Gérault.
The last chance deliberation
We could make it simpler and easier to accept by, for example, paying from the first opening of the drum
suggested Claude Garnier, mayor of Brée. He took the opportunity to reiterate his opposition to the principle of the incentive fee by abstaining during the vote on the report on the price and quality of the 2023 waste disposal service.
“By charging from 1is deposit, the user has no interest in opening the drum. We would have had a lot of deposits at the foot of the columns”said Joël Balandraud, president of the community of communes. As for those who have so far preferred to pay the 6-person package rather than accept the principle, we have just voted on the last chance deliberation”,
added the elected official.
