Parliament definitively adopted, this Thursday, November 7, 2024, the bill aimed at regulating tourist rentals. Mélanie Thomin, socialist deputy for Finistère, welcomes this adoption.
“This law, co-sponsored by the Socialists and Allies group, will transform access to the rental market in our tourist communities and will have immediate effects on access to the rental stock. In Finistère, particularly in my constituency, the difficulties in finding accommodation linked to tourist pressure particularly affect the Crozon peninsula, Porzay and Ouessant, she explains. Faced with the shortage of goods and the increase in rents, year-round residents sometimes have no other choice than to live at the campsite or sleep in their vehicle. These situations are shameful and unacceptable for those who only aspire to live and work in the country. »
“Concrete solutions”
She adds: “The hotel and rural accommodation sector is also impacted by this unfair competition from Airbnb-type accommodation. Thus, this law proposes concrete solutions. The adoption of this first law in this area will make it possible to regulate a market that was previously uncontrolled and which has greatly contributed to aggravating the crisis of access to housing on certain fringes of the Finistère coast. »
