This company offers a -Savoie route from this date

The winter sports season is here, whether you are a fan of ski descents or cozy moments around a hot drink. The Italian competitor of the SNCF offers to discover two new destinations in the heart of Savoie. These unique, low-cost journeys will be available for the entire winter season, starting next month, offering passengers quick access to the snow-covered Alps.

Direct journey for a weekend in Savoie

From December 15, Trenitalia, the Italian railway company, will directly serve two privileged destinations: Chambéry and Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. These journeys will be made aboard the Frecciarossa, for a duration of less than 3 hours 30 minutes to Chambéry and approximately 4 hours 15 minutes to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne.

Departures will be from Gare de in , with a stop in Lyon. However, this offer is limited to Saturdays and Sundays, with no service during the week. The trains will leave at 7:30 a.m. for an arrival in Chambéry at 10:43 a.m., and the return will take place at 7:22 p.m. for an arrival in Paris at 10:35 p.m.

According to Actu Montagne, Trenitalia provides travelers with a convivial space, as well as a quiet space for those looking for more calm.

A limited winter offer

Leaving the hustle and bustle of Paris to recharge your batteries in the mountains is an excellent way to enjoy your winter holidays. Chambéry train station provides access to several ski resorts, including Les Bottières and Le Corbier. For those wishing to explore other resorts within 150km, options such as Courchevel, Les Ménuires and La Plagne are available.

Renowned for its vast ski areas, the Maurienne valley is ideal for downhill skiing. Between family resorts like Albiez and the Galibier-Thabor ski area, you will quickly forget the hustle and bustle of Paris or Lyon.

Tickets have been on sale since October 31, for an offer valid until April 1, 2025, aiming to diversify the destinations available during the winter season.

What about the Paris-Milan line?

The Paris-Milan route, also provided by Trenitalia, was suspended following a massive landslide in August 2023, blocking the rail tunnel. According to easyVoyage, the company plans to reopen this line during the first quarter of 2025.
