The theme of genre will be honored during the next edition of the festival of rapatonadascarried throughout Cantal by theCantal Institute of Occitan Studies and its many partners. So, Rapatou will be spoiled for choice when it comes to dressing: witch's hat, king's (or queen's) crown, skirt, tie, magic wand… Xavier Jallais, the Cantalian artist to whom we owe the colorful poster, thought of everything so that the imp is “undermined like never before” before going to listen to the ten storytellers invited to share their passion with the general public but also a thousand schoolchildren.
Women
Three shows will highlight questions about gender, starting with “the headliner”, Alberto Garcia Sanchez who returns to the Cantal with “She and my genre”, in which he questions the role of women in society, and that of men, capable of taking their place? Response Friday November 8 at the Aurillac theater.
From her travels in Quebec, Algeria, the Amazon,… Myriam Pellicane has drawn stories of old women, young boys, who all have a “sacred gift”, whether it be madness, extravagance, sobriety. ,… It is up to her to host the opening evening of the festival (program below).
Finally, the storyteller, singer and performer Alice Beaufort will also talk about feminine power in “The Green Stone”, where it will also be about magical acts and resilience. She will present a second show, “Rebellious Stories”, tales and songs that question our relationship to dissidence…
“This social question of gender is current but has always been addressed in the tale,” explains Patrick Alet, president of the IEO. And the Rapatonadas will be there to remind you of it.
